A pulley is a wheel that rotates around an axis and has a groove. If we pull ropes, belts or chain, we can lift objects with less effort. Pulleys are divided into two types:

A compound pulleys system is a combination of fixed and movable pulleys. It's also called block and tackle system. We can combine pulleys in different ways:
